Faranaaz Waja
Faranaaz Waja graduated with a BA honors in Social Work from the University of Witwatersrand in 1996 and went into practice shortly thereafter. Disabilities held a special place in her heart and in 1997 she was employed at Sunshine mental Health, addressing the needs of persons with psychiatric conditions. In 1998, she joined the team at TIBA and has been there for the past 22 years. TIBA afforded her the opportunity and foundation to follow her dream of assisting and advocating on behalf of people with disabilities. This platform also afforded her the opportunity of creating awareness in Lenasia and the surrounding communities around resources available to all persons with disabilities. She also run the sub- office and is a board member of ADHASA and is passionate about inclusive education and empowering learners with barriers to learning within her mainstream schooling system and train ECD teachers in her capacity as an educational facilitator. In 2019, she was elected onto the NEC for SANCB (South African National Council for the Blind) advocating legislation on behalf of the blind in Gauteng.
